Northover Cars
Reviews and Complaints
Very satysfied customar
After reading all the negative comments regarding Northover Cars I feel that I must write in their defence.Last October browsing online{looking at cars}I came across this company which was unknown to me because i live n Cardiff but saw a car i liked with them so I rang Matthew who was very helpful .He told me that the car would be delivered free to Cardiff and promised me the car was in showroom condition, which it was. i have been extremely pleased with all my dealings as the paperwork{Private number plate,Tax} was also done for me.The car is 2012 Mecedes E class coupe 7000 genuine miles.
Kind Regards.

AVOID!!
We had been left a little (i stress, little) money. Needed to get rid of our old lexus RX300, petrol was costing. My husband came across Northover in Whitstable (we had recently moved to Birchington, so not far). Looked decent enough. He spotted a Mercedes C230 estate, 2004, for £5990. Nice clean car, little interior damage but to be expected. Part exchange deal done. This was 28th May 2013. Bullet points are probably best from here.
26th June: car died. Fuel filter, apparently it wasn't a genuine Mercedes part. £205.80, to be fair, Northover paid 50%. They didn't want me to use warranty.
I mentioned the parking sensors have developed a mind of their own (which For me, raised questions about the cars electrics) they said dirt can get in them.....? They don't work at all now.
6th Sept: took to Mercedes for health check.. they had a hard time as car wouldn't communicate with the diagnostics machine!
Noise from belt are - further investigation
Rear wiper blade split
Front wiper not cleaning
N/S/F inner brake pad 70% worn
Rear brake flexibility hoses perished.
9th Sept: had to fit O/S/F tyre. £108
7th Oct: front pads &sensor wire, rear brake hoses. £235.99
Finally May this year, N/S/F tyre replaced. £119.60
Tyres and alignment can be blamed on Kent's dodgy roads.
Because the warranty is stressed, I assumed (naively) the car would have been through more than a visual check over.....hey ho!
Yes it runs albeit as noisily as a diesel and with the occasional light display.
If we ever get enough money together for another car, I shall be returning to the iffy looking South London dealers not Northover cars who are basically fur coat and no knickers!
P.S Northover, please feel free to check if this is genuine.
Great Car and superb Customer Service
These days good customer service is a rarity. So my wife and I weren't expecting too much when we drove 60 miles from London to Whitstable to checkout a Mercedes E-Class Coupe we'd fallen in love with on a trade website.
We arrived at Northover Cars pretty much unannounced and were very warmly welcomed by Mathew (the proprietor of this fine establishment) who proceeded to make us a hot cup of tea and was trusting enough to leave us with the keys and let us give the car a,once over. The car exceeded our expectations. A well appointed car that looked smart and performed like new. Stuart (their salesman) then made did all the paperwork, working with the finance companies to ensure we got the car as soon as possible.
Within an hour of arriving we had everything in motion. There was a minor issue with the car which Stuart quickly got a Mercedes Benz master mechanic to resolve and they even arranged for the car to delivered to our London home, fully valeted and at the agreed time.
Overall Northover cars might not have 100 cars in stock but they aren't a car supermarket. They cherry pick the finest cars and offer an exceptional buyers experience that's not easy to find.
We will be using them again and have recommended friends to try them. Hands down one of the best car sellers in the country.
Another Satisfied Customer of Northover Moteors
I purchased a Mercedes C Class 350 CDI from Northover Motors in May 2014. I arrived (after a 3 hour drive) unexpectedly and at about about 16.00 hours on Sunday but Stuart, one of the salesmen was very obliging and let me take the car out for a long test-drive.
I went back first thing on Monday morning and met Matthew who inspected my part-exchange vehicle and with only a minimum of haggling (enough for us both to save face!) we agreed a fair price. We then returned to Matthew's office where he efficiently organised all the paperwork for the Mercedes I was buying and in 1 hour he'd sorted out my personal number plates, taxed and insured the vehicle. It then transpired that only one key came with the vehicle but Matthew promised me (verbally) that he'd pay for a second key to be produced. When I returned home, I got a quote (£250) from my local M-B dealer and Matthew sent me a cheque for this amount with no delay and no quibbling.
So, my experiences with Northover Motors, Matthew and his staff could not have been better, more efficient and more honest. Yes, the garage doesn't look very prepossessing and yes, Matthew does have something of the Regimental Sergeant Major about him but absolutely no complaints from me whatsoever.

What a joke
Found a car I liked on the Northover Cars website and thought it was nice, checked the price it was £25000 (or there abouts) so thought I was a go-er.
Took the money out of the bank that morning (cash) and toddled along their site. When I arrived I parked my up car that I was planning to PartX and found the car. To my confusion I saw it was up for £1000 more than on the website. When I found a sales man (or more, when he found me) I queried it and his reply was sold as advertised on site. I thought this was a tad unfair especially seeing as I was prepared to pay cash.
Also, the valuation on my Partx they gave me was shocking. It was about £1500 less than I had been quoted anywhere else.
I just think they are rude and way out of line.
Agreed work not carried out
I bought a car after agreeing with the rep that the dents, scratches and stone chips would be touched in and touched up, polished out. If these things were carried out then I would buy the car no problem.
He agreed that these things could be done and would be done. I went ahead with purchase thinking I had got myself the bargain of the century.
When I saw the car on collection I was appalled to find that nothing at all had been done, it had been cleaned on the inside- just about and that was it.
I bought this to light to the staff member and they responded by telling me that if there was nothing written down it was just tough luck. I had no choice but to take the car as is but the customer service is SHOCKING!
NO business ethics
I collected my car, drove it home and it was fine. A bit of rough running when idle but I assumed it just needed to be run for a while (sitting on a forecourt can't do them much good)
I bought the car on the provisory that the tyres would be changed as they were bald when I viewed it. After driving it about for 3 weeks my tyre had a blow out which lead me to discover my tyres were not run flats. They had replaced the tyres with a standard, run-of-the-mill tyre! I was furious. I have written two letters and sent an email and nothing back- NO BUSINESS EITHICS WHAT-SO-EVER!
No Regards,
Very Furious Customer
A very happy customer
I picked up my BMW 325 SE convertible last week, i found Mat and Stuart to be very friendly and professional and well educated gentlemen to deal with, Having been burnt recently by another dealer and feeling a bit shaken to say the least i felt happy spending £ 21.000 at Northover cars on my new BMW, i would certainly recommend them as this is now my 3rd BMW i have bought from Northover cars Whitstable and wishing i had visited them in the first place. These guy,s have some what restored my faith in car sale,s men and very professional after care service.
5 star service.
Pictures/images
I'm pretty sure that with the internet being so easily accessible to everyone that people do their research before making a purchase, even for the smallest things so they are more definitely gong to research a big purchase like a car. So when representing your company by displaying its products would you not make sure they look amazingly spot on?
So, why are all of your pictures taken in a park or estate home/castle car-park?
Do you not have the facilities to take images properly? This to me looks dodge and a bit "back alley" but hey-ho if it works, it works.
Rude & aggressive
I and my son went to the local dealer, Northover cars to buy a car & found the man unhelpful & when asked for the documentation he started making excuses. It was obvious the car have a few different colour shades signifying it was accident damaged.
When this was pointed out to the man, he let rip with outburst of swearwords in front of my 11 year old son.
The prices of his cars are too high, and the cars are not in great condition. The perception you get on their website is totally different from what you see when you arrive at the shady site.
Not enough in stock wo warrant the journey
I have been on Northover Cars website this morning and the website is telling me that they have 40 cars in stock. 32 of which were Mercedes, 7 BMWS and 1 mini.
This does not seem like enough cars to claim to be a BMW specialist?
I also like to look and test drive my cars before committing to anything having said that, I live a frightfully long way away from their showroom and seeing as they only have a hand-full of cars in I don't believe it warrants the time and money I would spend travelling. Disappointment that they call themselves specialists but have minute stock!
Northover Cars - Review in Dealers category
I wrote this review as I was very disappointed with the car and although £5995 was a lot of money for us, I didn't think a showroom with cars in the 20k range would give me the time of day. Although there are obvious fake complaints on this site, I needed to vent.
Today I received a call from Stuart at Northover.
He was very concerned that I was unhappy enough to post on this site. We talked at length about my issues. To cut to the chase....the car had passed it's MOT and sold in good faith, which I accept. I have just been unfortunate that niggley things that happen with any car, happened to mine within the space of a few months.
When you think about it, one of the reasons people sell their cars is when they start to 'play up'.
The important thing is Stuart took the time to phone me and talk through my issues. I hate to use the term 'closure' but it has been achieved.
FRAUD!!!
I was so happy when I found Northover Cars online. I arrived on site I was shocked at how deceiving the website was.
Anyway I had found my dream car I was so happy with my Mercedes low mileage, the finance went through so quickly. Once the payments had went through everything was fine until 2 weeks after the sale, I had a call from my bank account to ask if I had transferred 2,000 to there company instantly I knew something wasn't right! I called there dealership and they denied everything!!!
When asking again why it had come out they said it was due to the deposit being taken twice but the deposit was only £500. I wouldn't advise anyone to use this company!!!!!!
LIES AFTER LIES
After reading a lot of reviews online I tried to put my son off from buying his car from your dealership. Although the cars look in very good condition after driving them away from the dealership not even 6 miles up the road the engine management light appeared we was told to fill the car up with petrol so we did, once we had done that we noticed the cars petrol gage was dropping extremely quickly after getting out and checking we noticed it had a petrol leak.
We rung your company and was told no one was about to come and recover the car and to call the breakdown company we had. The AA come out straight away and they explain it had been like it for a while and there is no way this car should have passed an MOT and service before leaving there dealership and to report them to VOSA. When I got home I contacted the warranty company provided and they said they would not pay for the car top be fixed as a good will gesture they will contribute £100 this just isn't acceptable!!
Everyone needs to stay clear of this company and report them to everyone!!! Dodgy dealers!!!
EML LIGHT WILL NOT GO AWAY
I bought a car around a month ago but from the second that I've had the car the engine management light has been on and off, on and off. It comes and goes as it pleases.
I reported the issue and fair enough they had a look at it and reset everything. It was fine for about a week and I thought " Nice one, problem solved, I can enjoy my car." About a week or so later the light was back on. So, there is clearly an underlying issue tat needs to be sorted and of course they don't want to know.
They have claimed that they have fixed the issue and that it's now my problem to pay for and have it fixed. That's what you call customer service...NOT!

Agreed a good deal on a used Mercedes and was promised a list of minor faults would be rectified ready for collection.Turned up two weeks later to find some of the jobs required had not been done and others appeared to have been done badly!
I said I was unhappy and was refusing to pay for the car with which the owner had a childish tantrum and stormed off leaving a very embarrassed salesman to refund my deposit.
AVOID.I have since returned to a local Mercedes main dealer and am now receiving the customer service I expect from a prestigious marque.
